Bio: Born in Edinburgh in 1926, and studied law at Edinburgh University (1944-46) and then at the Middle Temple in London in 1948. He changed career in 1950. Studied at Slade School of Fine Art under William Coldstream and Robert Medley, and alongside Paula Rego and Euan Uglow. His first solo exhibition at the Beaux Arts Gallery in London 1959. Well known for still-lifes, landscapes, nudes, portraits, dogs and crucifixions as subject matter. Also collaborated with David Hockney decorating Gallery Stalls at Glyndebourne Opera House.
